It applies to visitors, prospects, and clients globally, with additional provisions for residents of the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, California, and Canada.

This policy does not cover data you provide privately inside a paid engagement; that data is governed by the applicable engagement agreement.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the categories of recipients below, and only to the extent necessary.

  • Service providers acting for us: website hosting, email delivery, analytics, calendar and booking, customer relationship management, payment processing. Each is bound by a written data-processing agreement.
  • Professional advisers: lawyers, accountants, and auditors, under confidentiality.
  • Authorities: where legally compelled by a valid order, subpoena, or regulator request.
  • Successors: in the event of merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, subject to the same protections.

We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not participate in ad networks that build profiles across unrelated sites.

7. International transfers

We operate from Wyoming, United States and use service providers that may process data in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Economic Area. Where we transfer personal data out of the UK or EEA, we rely on:

  • an adequacy decision issued by the receiving country’s regulator, where one exists; or
  • the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, together with a transfer impact assessment.

You can request a copy of the safeguards used for any specific transfer by writing to info@behzadhussain.me.

8. How long we keep information

  • Inquiry data: up to 24 months after the last contact, unless you become a client.
  • Client engagement records: for the duration of the engagement and for 7 years afterwards, or the period required by tax, professional, or contractual obligations, whichever is longer.
  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression list retained indefinitely to honor your unsubscribe.
  • Analytics logs: up to 14 months in aggregate form.
  • Backups: encrypted backups may retain data for up to 90 days after deletion from production systems.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures, including transport encryption, access controls, principle of least privilege, encrypted backups, and staff confidentiality obligations. No online service is fully secure; if we discover a personal-data breach that meets the notification threshold, we will notify affected individuals and regulators within the timelines set by law.

10. Your rights (UK, EEA, and worldwide)

Subject to your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request erasure (“right to be forgotten”);
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
  • request data portability, where applicable;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred beforehand;
  • lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority: the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) for UK residents, or your national data-protection authority in the EEA.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@behzadhussain.me. We respond within one month for UK/EU requests, or as required by applicable law for other regions. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

We collect the categories of personal information described in section 3. We use it for the business purposes described in section 4. We disclose it to the categories of recipients described in section 6. We have not sold or “shared” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the preceding 12 months.

You have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
  • delete personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect any);
  • opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share); and
  • non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

To exercise these rights, email info@behzadhussain.me with “CCPA request” in the subject line. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will verify the agent’s authority.

12. Canadian residents (PIPEDA)

We follow the principles set out in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act. You may request access, correction, or withdrawal of consent by writing to info@behzadhussain.me. If you believe we have not addressed your concerns, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

13. Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.

14. Children

The Site is directed to legal and business professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 (or under 13 in the United States). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact info@behzadhussain.me and we will delete it.

15. Do Not Track

There is no consensus industry standard for interpreting the “Do Not Track” browser signal, and the Site does not currently respond to it. You can control cookies through your browser settings and our cookie banner.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Effective date” at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email or a prominent Site notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
